Get a balancer from a 350, and the timing tab from the same engine. Then use a dial-back timing light to set timing.

If you're mixing and matching balancers and timing tabs you may end up with the timing off 10 degrees or more. The timing marks on the balancer are not always in the same position relative to the crank keyway. There have been at least 2 different configurations on the small block chevy over the years.
