I have a 2 bolt block a 4.25 scat forged crank. Forged 6.385 rods and 5cc dome (more like a bump)SRP pistons. One of our company stores has a machine shop and they will do all machine work and asemble my short block for 250 bucks. Discounts are a beutifull thing. What I need to know is what bearings should I run I get seald power(federal mogul) and clevite at cost at the warehouse level. Also what melling pump should I run? I will be swapping everything from the 396 over that I can. I need a new cam though. The one in the 396 is a 235 240 HR .617 lift. I need to stay Hyd. roller have new morel lifters in the 396 and do not want to switch. How big can I go with fully ported and polished 215 heads with 2.25" valves. Is a 252 262 with a .64-.65 lift possible on a hyd roller cam. I do not care if it is a little nasty on the street.
Rest of combo is turbo 400 with an 8" treemaster and 3.90 gears out back. Need new headers 2" or 1.875" and eventually another carb right now it is a 780 prosystem. This setup went 12.5 with the 396 in the 1/4. Was going to be faster after head work but cracked the head after putting them back on and did not get to the track. It was definately faster though. Have a customer who is going to try and weld it for me. If it works I will put them back on till the 496 is done.
Thanks
Jacy
