Hi all,

I have a 1972 wagon and need the correct window gaskets for the rear doors and especially for the rear tailgate window.

I got a window gasket set from soft seal but the tailgate/rear window gasket is not tall enough to completely seal the rear window, it leaks evey time it rains. (this is the gasket that covers the bottum of the tailgate window) Also, the 2 rear door window gaskets don't fit correctly, and don't fit.

Has anybody else had this problem before?

Hi,

Well, it's like this. On the rear tailgate, on top, there is an outer window weather strip that seals water from entering the tailgate from the tailgate glass. I can not find one that fits correctly and keeps water from coming into the tailgae from the window.

Also, being a four door wagon, I am trying to get weather strips for the two rear doors. I am having problems trying to get the window weatherstrips that fit correctly. I recently got a weather strip kit but the weather strips for the rear doors do not contour to the correct position on the door.

I hope this is more clear.

ok, first the weaterstrip pieces you are talking about do not keep water out of the tailgate or the doors. it is really just a wiper to keep big dirt and leaves out. and it also keeps the window off of the metal. the doors and tailgate are designed to allow water to flow in and back out the bottom. you cant prevent that and still allow the windows to go down.
on my site i tell where to get the parts you are talking about. you can buy them new.
now, on the side back doors, you need to use 68-69 4 door or wagon parts, if you use the 70-72 4 door parts, they have a different curvature.

Is that correct? For the rear door window weatherstrips on my 1972 wagon, I need to use window weather strips from a 1968-1969 wagon?

Seems kinda odd...
