Almost done with with GEN V1 498 build up. Have short block together. I used the Pete Jackson gear drive, had to do a little clearance on block for idler axle. You need a deeper timing cover, used cast Alum one,if you chose to use double roller chain you will also need deeper cover. Using Moroso oil pan 20411 with arp main studs and GM Windage tray, Clears the crank and rods but the the oil pan comes with a removable tray iteslf ,if you use th GM tray remove the oil pan one. I had to drill 2 hoes for the 2 rear main studs hits the top of the trap door plate inside of oil pan. If you use the arp main studs for windage tray get the mark 1V part numbers the ones for gen 6 blocks wont work to long to even bolt up main caps. I can not use the arp oil pan studs I purchased to short with the oil pan gasket and pan has a thick flange. Just thought I pass along this in case any one else is building one of these newer blocks. Small perks come up along the way. Having fun you know it goes. Will bolt up heads and have correct gaskets for using 781 on this block. Dave.
