Hey guys,

Looking to get my 72 ready for the power tour this year. At the end of the tour last year we started to get a big squeak from up front and its the upper control arm bushings. We have coil overs up front and are wondering if we should make the upgrade to tubular control arms or just press new MOOG bushings into whats in there now. Any recommendations? If going the tubular route, any recommendations on what brand? Car is mostly a cruiser (hence the power tour) with the want to take it down a drag strip once in awhile for fun, not to break records or anything.

As stated above, you aren't pushing the car through curves, no need to spend on unneeded parts. If even remotely interested you might look at the price tags, tubular arms are ridiculously priced.

While you have the upper arms out you can install 0.5" taller upper ball joints. If you're running factory size tires, check fit before you do run them. These will help bandaid the crap factory geometry and give you a little better camber curve.

Are you using coilovers with the stock lower A Arms??
I would change lowers if you are. Stock arms are not meant to support car weight on the shock mounts

Thanks for the input! You don't happen to have a pn do you?

I just did a UMI control arm swap with taller ball joints and Im very happy with the results.

Here is my philosophy:

My control arms were 50 years old and have had probably multiple ball joint swaps. They were banged up and their integrity was questionable.

So it was either pay $600 for new control arms with old technology and then install them only to wonder what those nice tubular control arms are like.

Or just bite the bullet and spend the extra $600 for something I really want and have no regrets.

I have no regrets and now I have peace of mind knowing my ball joint isnt going to separate while im going down the road.

Which ones did you go with? Would you care to share a link?
