I wanted to go fuel injection on my '70 Malibu. So I purchased a complete system. NOW I'm have a ton of trouble trying to fit the frame mounted fuel pump. Source says to have the pump as close to the tank as possible AND low as it starts out as gravity feed. Well, that's just not happening. After installing and modifying the pump level and location twice (now on the third location) I woke up at 2 am realizing that the location is right where the exhaust must go over the axle tube. I'm guessing that I need to go "in tank".
Commendations as to using oem tank and fitting an in-tank pump or replacing the whole tank. I can't be the only person out there that has gone through this. As this is the weekend, I'll have to wait until Monday to ask the manufacture WTH?

I too will set my car up with EFI. This is the pump I will be using:

I've been down this road. Get an in-tank pump setup. I've had a Tanks Inc tank for 11 years now. I'm very satisfied and would highly recommend it. That was after trying several external pumps.

Well, I went K.I.S.S. and purchased a new efi/baffled tank from TANKSINC. The pump area is recessed with two holes machined in with threaded screw holes. It also has the front corners trimmed for exhaust oversized pipes to have room to go through. Powder coated in a silver looks good too. Installation of the pump and gauge equipment was educational, but I survived it with a few new words added to my vocabulary. Their techs on the phone were very beneficial. The shallow 7" deep tank needs a mod for the gauge assembly as well for the pump. Hopefully, today I'll get the tank in and run the hoses to and from the front end. On a side note, my neighbor and friend is doing the same thing on a '67 Ford F100 (coyote engine/trans, LTD front suspension, rear Explorer axle assembly. The tank and hoses are from the same outfits.
