I'm almost afraid to ask, but how do you go about fixing a badly rusted trunk lip - the part on the body that the trunk lid rests on when closed? I'm assuming it's a replacement from a donor car type thing. Where is the easist place to make the joint etc. Any tricks would be greatly appreciated.

The entire trunk opening was made up of 4 pieces. The filler panel which is the piece between the back glass and the trunk opening. That piece contains the upper lip. The full quarter panels contain the side lips of the opening and I don;t think they make thei piece you want. There is a seam in the corner of the area where the weather stripping goes however that you should be able to see with the trunk lid open.

I have a similar area. Not too severe but rusted through in the lower lip area where the trunk lid weather stripping runs.
First grind clean and us a rust preventative.
I plan on using a heavier type of mesh screen, available at parts store in the auto bodt section. Comes in small sheets. Can be cut to form and pop rivited in place then bondo over to blend in. Mine will be covered by the weatherstripping

When they say sedan, do they really mean a 4-door sedan. A 2-door sedan does not exists by virtue of the word?
