I had to replace the compressor, so I redid all of the system except for the evaporator. I've had the compressor in the car, not hooked up or running for about a year. My buddy has a complete AC charging system (vac pump, manifold, etc) and has done his own vehicles, but...just want to be sure of things...with that said, of course I have questions:
- Should I do anything special before/during charging seeing as how the compressor has been in for that long without running? I think the Sanden compressors come filled with oil to begin with, but I'm not sure. Does it/could it leak out? How do I know if it has oil in it? Do I drain it (how) or just add oil to be sure?
- can I add oil to the compressor by just pouring it into one of the open fittings or do I have to use an oil injector? does the system need to be running while adding with the injector? How much oil?
- recommendations for type of 134a refrigerant? brand/type? and how much should I be prepared to use?
Thanks all! :beers:
