My 69 Chevelle SS has two options i dont see very often. #1 is the factory tach cluster. # 2 the car has a windshield antenna instead of the fender mount antenna. Does anyone know if either of these two things are rare and what numbers were produced with these two items. Thanks. Randy

Randy, when you say your car came with two options do you mean you have anything that documents it or that it is found on the car you currently have. I do not have the specific numbers but there were what appears to be three different tachs available, a 5000 RPM redline, 5500 RPM redline and a 6000 RPM redline. The 5500 seems to be common for L34/L35 big blck cars. My 69 has a 5500 RPM tach and if you remove the dash and check the cluster you may find an ink stamped date on top of it. My car is an 11B build and the cluster date is 3 Nov 68, enough to convince me it is original to my car. As for the windshield antenna, I do not think it was available until the 70s, maybe someone can ID the specific time frame. I put one of those windshields, think it was from an old Monte Carlo in an old chevelle I had and it fit perfect other than having to run the antenna wire. If you do have any documentation for the windshild antenna, I would love to see it and add a copy to my research with your car info. take it easy hope this helps some. Andy

Well Randy, the tach is not rare, especially in an SS. The windshield antenna was never installed in a 69 Chevelle to the best of my knowledge. Hopefully this does not dampen your spirits ;)

EDIT - Sure Andy, steel my thunder (I need to be quicker I guess) :D

Its just an aftermarket windsheild, I had one put in my 69 a few years ago from a local glass company.
