My email has picked up something... it sends an email to about 5 different people just about every day. It seem to be harmless, it is an advertising link to something, most times it's a Canadian pharmacy.

There will never be anything in the subject line. I have ran Adaware and my antiviral is Eset nod32 and runs every night. this doesn't seem to be malicious but it is aggravating it send emails out on a regular basis.

If i delete the 5 names it send to does anyone think it will stop or how do i go about getting rid of this pest.

And, Microsoft's Security Essentials helps from getting these things.

Funny i see this now after checking my e-mail. i just got three e-mails from a friend and it was the same thing, a link to some Canadian pharmacy for Viagra and cialis. i clicked the link and nothing happened, my anti-virus did not alert me, and nothing from Malwarebytes anti-malware.

I couldn't figure out why i was getting those from him because troy wouldn't send stuff like that. he must have the same thing you have, probably got it from some website. hopefully i did not pick it up.

Rocky , try f-secure: http://www.f-secure.com/en_EMEA-Labs/security-threats/tools/easy-clean/

To the right under download click (feasyclean.exe) it is not that big and it does not install anything, save it to your desktop then run it.
alternatively they have an online scanner in the tabs to the left, but i always used the one you can save.

What do use for e-mail? It is possible that you need to change your password

My email is set up thru my internet provider, ATT. my email is rockyhil@sbcglobal.net and it is actually a Yahoo account. I use outlook on my computer and never actually go to the email address proper. These emails are is if they were sent directly from the Yahoo account. the emails will never have anything in the subject line it will always be blank. you can tell it was not sent from my outlook.

I will give it a try tonight. I ran Malwarebytes last night and that didn't work, It sent out an email this morning to the 5 people it normally sends it to. I will try the F-secure and see it it works.

The problem is not on your computer if the emails are being sent from the Yahoo server. Contact sbcglobal and let them look into it. And most definitely change your password.

If this is being done at the source (your yahoo account) and not your local PC via Outlook, all the anti virus programs and bug scanners aren't going to help with this. If someone hacked your (and other) yahoo email accounts the first solution I'd try is what was suggested earlier, changing your password on the yahoo account.

That makes sense now, because the emails rocky is taking about are the same type i am getting from my friend troy and he has a yahoo account.

This is what I got from ATT today.

This email is to advise you that your account may have been compromised. One or more addresses attached to the account were found to be sending spam using authentication. In order to secure your account we have disabled the current password. To access your account you will need to set a new password.

We got it fixed and all is well for now.
