I expect to be on the dyno the week of the 17th.
My engine guy will have suggestions, but it's up to me to make the decisions.

I'll have 2 carb/manifold setups to try. And for each I'll be able to try the open spacer vs. the Super(wallet)Sucker spacer.

I THINK the procedure is as follows:
Break in the rings.
Make a pull to 5000.
Make a pull to 6000.
Dial in the timing? I think 36 degrees total is a good place to start. It's a 9.4:1 CR engine and will probably like more timing than that.
Make a pull to 7000? (might show we don't need to go this high)
Experiment with jets? We will have the 950HP/open spacer on first)
Try the Super Sucker Spacer.
Play with jets again?
Swap to the 1050/open spacer and Victor manifold.
Play with jets?
Switch to the "suck my wallet dry" Super Sucker spacer.
Play with jets again?

I'd really like to have a plan in place so we can avoid wasting too much time. I get one 12 hour day to do this......and there is a lot to do.

Suggestions from the experts welcome.

Thanks

Ron

They key is what data acquisition does the dyno offer?

1, 2, 8 wideband O2 sensors, EGTs, fuel flowmeters to calculate BSFC, manifold vacuum recording,.....etc.

There is a lot more an engine dyno should offer than just HP and torque.

You also usually never use 1 run to analyze parts. Usually we always make at least 3 that are with a small percentage of each other and average If a dyno can't repeat well, A-B-(A) tests are suspect.

But with the data aq. you can see if things are so far off that you should just retune anyhow.

Ron,
One thing I did not see on your list is to change the oil and filter after the break in and cut the filter open real quick to check for any possible problems before you start some serious pulls.

Doug,
This dyno offers HP and torque. And maybe A/F ratios if he gets the Innovate O2 sensor working so that it logs data/vs PPM. It's not sophisticated like the store bought dynos. I agree that we need to do more than 1 run per change. Time will be an issue. i can only afford 1 day.
Bill, excellent idea. I will do that.
