First thing you should do is sand blast that door so you can really see what is going on there. Looks like you got some serious rust creeping up through the door and even along the speaker hole. It can be fixed, the question is what metal fab skills, tools and whats the cost of a good used door?

That door shell could be a few different metal gauges, am betting its 19 or 18 ga. You would use regular old cold rolled steel the alloy type is around the 1008 series.

Sand blast the door THEN decide because you probably have much more rust hiding. No point in fixing that spot then find out your door is a total piece of crap...Eric

Start hitting the junk yards, and if you cant find the exact door you want, you can probably find a 4 door door, maybe from a buick, olds, or pontiac with a corner that you can cut off and splice in. You may have to modify itto fit your door skin, but that's a simple way to do it.

From the looks of your hinge, maybe they will throw that in.

i have fixed a door like this in the corner but mine was not messed where someone cut a speaker hole,i cut a patch from a pontiac door and grafted into mine, this was before door shell came around.your door looks rough by the pics,is this back of it in the same shape,or along the bottom,if so i would get a rust free used of aftermarket and just weld a rod to the edge of the new shell as they are short, allot less work for the cost, yours need a donor and a skin and the labor skill to fix.

68. Talking about the rod what size rod like a 1/4 or so and tig it on. You grind it down and spread a thin layer of filler on it?
When going patch work do yall use hot ot cold roll sheetmetal?
