Went to the local parts shop and tryed to order a adaptor plate to mesh the carb to intake but I'm told the plate is 2 inch tall and my not work??? Will it fit under my stock hood on a standered deck 496 and any suggestions???

You're going to have to sell the intake. It won't fit under a stock hood. 2" spacer is the only one made, and it will be even taller. Go for a Performer Rpm or at most a victor jr for a 4150 carb.

Damit not what I wanted to hear. guess I'll have to sell it then get a new one and port it.
Why not call quick fuel and investigate buying a new baseplate. A friend of mine had a dominator on a 460 ford, thing just would not work, it was a quick fuel carb that they reccomended. He did not want to buy a new intake to swap to a 4150 so Quick Fuel built him a QFT 4150 based carb that has a 4500 bolt pattern. No adapter or new intake needed. But it's your money, personally i'd make a call and see what they say.

Not sure if that intake and 4150 carb will fit under a stock hood. I'm just saying using the 4150 carb with the 4500 baseplate will be at least 1.5" shorter than using the 2" adapter spacer. If you already have the parts, lay the intake on the engine and set the carb on the intake and take some measurements. You'll have to set the carb off center of the carb pad, but it will be close enough to give you an idea of what clearance you are working with.
