Guys..please call your state representative! This is something that the Governor came up with.

Copy of the bill:
http://www.cga.ct.gov/2011/TOB/H/2011HB-05580-R01-HB.htm

heres the chuckleheads that are pushing it:
Rep. Brendan Sharkey, 88th Dist.
Sen. Martin M. Looney, 11th Dist.
Rep. Patricia A. Dillon, 92nd Dist.
Rep. Auden Grogins, 129th Dist.
Rep. Susan M. Johnson, 49th Dist.

URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT

Connecticut Committee Approves Bill to Further Restrict Access to Antique Vehicle Registration, Increase Fees; Moves Next to Full House

Legislation (H.B. 5580) to increase the age requirement for vehicles eligible for registration as “antique, rare or special interest motor vehicles” has been passed by the Connecticut Joint Committee on Planning and Development. The bill was amended in Committee to increase the age requirement for registration as an antique to 30 years old and increase the tax assessment amount on vehicles registered as antiques to $2,500. Currently, vehicles 20 years old or older are eligible for antique status. Antique, rare or special interest motor vehicles are currently assessed at a rate of $500 and owners pay personal property taxes on that amount. The bill will next be considered by the full House of Representatives.

this is what kills me...this is what the co-sponsors think about it:
Statement of Purpose:

To simplify the motor vehicle taxation system, encourage the registration of vehicles and narrow property tax benefits for antique cars.

Guess I'll be giving Deb's cousin a call.....

I have to say here in WI just this year the DMV finally started making a person send photos of the car when applying for collector plate. It is a flat fee of $200 one time fee. The thing that pisses me off is when people put these plates on cars 20 years old or older that are not "collector" car, but rather Hoopties with more rust than sheet metal. That way they are cheating the system by paying the $200 once instead of $75/year. Now the DMV will decide whether it is a collector car or not.

Let's try to stay on topic about getting the word out so this topic stays out of CE please.

Bump....
 I don't this to go to CE either  :noway:

Actually... here in Ct they're called "Early American" and as we speak they're available for 20yr old vehicles.
I keep this truck registered for "just in case" suituations.
