We are restoring a very original 1970 SS Chevelle. We have the original build sheet and it calls out the F41 suspension. I believe the front sway bar to be original to the car. Using a pair of calipers I measure the diameter to be 1.125"or 1 1/8". According to the Chevelle SS Restoration Guide by Paul Herd, it states that the F41 front sway bar diameter to be be 1.25" or 1 1/4". It gets better. Listed in the latest catelog from Ground Up Restoration, the state that the correct diameter for a 1970 F41 front sway bar to be 1.0625" or 1 1/16".
Needless to say we can not get the corrrect bushings from anywhere, not even GM. The bushings they will tell you are correct mearsure 1.00" diameter.
Can anyone confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt as to the diameter of a 1970 F41 front sway bar? And where do you get bushings?
