I have a 69 vert. When I lower or raise the top, it binds on the lower forward base of the top. This is the area right behind the rear window. There doesn't seem to be enough clearance between the top frame and the body of the car. Once it clears the first inch or so when lowering the top, it's okay. There's a rub mark on my top at this point about one inch in length and I'm sure it will eventually rip or tear if not corrected. This is occurring on both sides. The stainless steel trim seems to be correctly mounted but this is what the top is rubbing on. It just started doing this over the last few weeks. The top was installed this spring.
I looked at the point where this part of the top frame mounts on the car body and there appear to be three bolts holding it on. Seems if there were some washers placed between the top frame mount and the body of the car, it would increase the space between the top frame and the car body and correct the problem. Is this the proper solution? If so, I'll probably need to do it on both sides, right?
I hope this is a clear enough explanation.
Thanks for any advice you can give.
