Column shift modifications available?

I'm pretty sure the detects are INSIDE the transmission. If you disconnect the steering column linkage ... it will just move up/down with no interaction.

Sounds pretty typical, the detects in your transmission are worn.

One thing that might help, and I'm not for sure how to do it ... is if you can put more spring pressure on the column?
