I know the car and the previous owner.

It is the real deal.

Very nice car for a change with everything there. If that car had Cowl induction with the correct colored vinyl roof and the stripes were not added I would be bidding on it.

Before bidding keep in mind this car was originally without stripes and had a Gold Vinyl roof according to the Build Sheet but other wise a very nice SS. Also the front bumperettes were added to the car as they are also not on the Build Sheet.
Will be interesting to see what it sells for.

I had a car just like that one. It came from the factory with bench seat and 4 speed. I sold it to someone in Mass. about 6-8 yrs ago. The car had sat since 1978 and only had 38K miles on it. The interior was like brand new. The motor was in pieces and trans was in trunk. I am still wondering why I let myself sell the car and especially sell it for $5K. Really kicking myself now. The black stripes had some funky paint work with an air brush back in the 70's. It had some bubbling under the top under rear window and small rust at bottom of front fenders. I have not seen or heard from Steve since and always wondered what happened to it. That is now 2 70 SS Chevelles that I have had and I regret letting either of them go.

what do they call that paint color ?

Winning bid was $38,600. I think it was a fair price for both seller and buyer it is a beautiful car.
