I have a rear end number KDC 293 2. I figure it's a 2.73, but I don't know what the rest is.

I'll tell you what I found in "Chevrolet General Information Guide".

KD = 1968 Chevelle, 2.73 large ring
C = Gear and axle plant

The numbers are supposed to be date codes, but not positive on that one.

This is what I found
KD= 273:1 '66 thru '69 in my book
it was a posi in '66
C= axle build source = chevy Buffalo
293= day of the year built
2 = shift

this is all I got, hope it helps.
