I recently bought a power disk brake conversion system from Ausley's Chevelle Parts. It seemed to have worked fine for a hundred miles of driving or so, but then I got in the car today to take it for a spin, and noticed as I pulled out of my driveway the pedal went to the floor and I barely had any brakes. I drove around the block, and things did not change. I didn't go over 25mph, but I had to stand on my brakes to get the car to stop.

I then pulled it into the driveway, and saw some brake fluid that had leaked onto my inner fender. I then did some checking, had had my wife step on the brakes, while I looked at the master cylinder area, and there is a nut on the very front of the combination valve that is leaking brake fluid when the brakes are applied. Not a lot of fluid, but probably about 4 or 5 drops each time the brakes are applied, and apparently enough for me to have almost zero brakes.

Does it sound like the combination valve is shot on this thing, even though it is brand new along with the rest of the system? I don't know what else the problem could be. I tried calling Ausley's to find out what kind of valve it was in case I need to replace it, but nobody answered so I left a message. Would this system need the exact same model combination valve that I bought from Ausleys, or would any work? Your help would be greatly appreciated with this frustrating problem. Thanks Shawn

I bought it around October, not sure if I still have my receipt or not. I did put it on my credit card, and I am sure they have it in their computer. Bad thing is since it is a car that is rarely driven, I probably would have figured the problem out within days, but since I only put 100 miles on the car, it took til now to figure it out. Hopefully Ausley's will call me back here shortly

The other thing I thought was a little odd, the brake light was illuminated on the dash. I didn't even realize that I had a brake light on the dash of the 67, never saw it on before today

Shawn, there is a shuttle valve in the combo unit that will activate the "brake" light when fluid is lost (same light for the parking brake). This is normal and working correctly. Roger Ausley is on here from time to time and may read this but I'm sure he'll stand behind any part that has malfunctioned. I found a lot of places closed today (Easter Monday ?????? never heard such a thing), so you may get someone there tomorrow. The only other thing I can think is it may have been crossed threaded when installed resulting in the leak but then again it probably would have happened right away.

Mike, thanks for your reply. I have left a message for Ausley's on their voicemail and an email. My experiences in the past with them have been good ones, so I hope it will be the same this time around. Glad to know that the "idiot" light is working properly. It's frustrating sometimes, especially when you buy a whole new system, you expect it would work right. I'll get it fixed, it's just a pain in the meantime.

Shawn, I bought my kit from CPP for my '69 and went thru 3 proportioning valves, all leaking from front. Last one seems to be doing just fine.

Bob, it sounds like i got a defective valve, like the ones you recieved from CPP. Roger Ausley emailed me and gave me the information for who they get their kits from, so I called them, and they are sending out a new valve to me, and asked that I mail them the old one back once it is replaced, which I thought was nice. Hopefully I will get it in the next couple days so I can get the 67 to my mechanic and get my car back on the road soon.
