Hey everyone,

Looking for opinions here. My goal is to stay with a SBC rated at 550 HP and 550 TQ, and within $7.5k. PS4541CT - ProSeries - GM 454 New Block Base Alum Heads ? Forged | BluePrint Engines I don't want to be building a motor, I'm looking for something more plug and play from my current 383 motor. I can transfer everything over from my old motor in order to make this one work.

I have:
•Edelbrock RPM air gap duel plane intake
•Edelbrock E street 2 EFI
•Edelbrock e street control dizzy
•Headman headers

I might change my starter to a light weight starter while I'm making the swap.

No, I don't want to go BB or LS. My whole drivetrain is rated at 600HP.

Thanks in advance!

That leaves a whopping .150 wide gasket/fire ring between the bores unless it's a 4.5" bore center block.

Your 383 headers ain't gonna be big enough.
Intake either.

I'd stop at 421 or 434, even with an aftermarket block. First build, no reason to go bigger than 4.155. Leave some room for clean-ups, etc.

A cast iron small block with 4.250 bores? hmmm
Its only 4.185 bore. 4.125 stroke. Pretty common combination. Only way I would do it would be with a Dart or World Products block.

Bill, the website ad says it's a BluePrint block, 4.250" bore with a 4" stroke...maybe a misprint?

Regardless, that's a lot of cubes out of a "smallblock".

Bill your not going to put a 4.125 stroke in a standard height cam tunnel block give me a break !!!! Its not common combination !!!

Its 4.000 stroke with 4.250 bore and thats not a common combination. Leaves no room for a rebuild.

Sorry Carl, the ad I looked at showed 4.185 bore x 4.125 stroke. Maybe a misprint ? A lot of guys in my area running that combination. I didn't say anything about what block.

I cant imagine 4.250 on a standard bore center block.

HP is a calculated number. It's not measured. Torque is what will rip your driveline out. I would build a 372CID 4.125 x 3.48 x 6" rod. You''ll be much happier.
