Good evening,
1968 Malibu with 1969 BBC power steering pump. Adding Vintage Air & planning on compressor going where alternator sits now, passenger side. Want to move the alternator to drivers side, but looking thru other forums on here, there may be an access issue with the reservoir for the p/s pump. Few q's....

1- If no access issues with the p/s reservoir, what alternator brackets should I get?
2- Thoughts on pulleys for a BBC engine with p/s, a/c, alt & mechanical water pump? Also need the crank pulley.
3- If there is an access issue, any thoughts on how to proceed? Obtain 68 pump, brackets & reservoir?
4- Any photos of your setup?

Per Vintage Air, it appears I can move the compressor to the drivers side, but don't really want to have the a/c hoses all the way over to that side.
I was looking at serpentine belt kit, but they require to replace the p/s pump & alternator to accommodate their setup, plus some of them are well over $1k.
Thanks!

Troy

I used Alan Grove Components too, had to put the alt on my drivers side since I had a long water pump on my 454 and no other manufacturers made anything like that when installing the VA unit, and putting on a serp setup would’ve cost me way more than 2 brackets at ~100 bucks a piece. Fits nice and works well, comes as raw metal components so you could powdercoat them or whatever you wanted to do.

down&dirty.i ran long water pump with 69 p/s pump double pulley, 67 lower alt. mount ,universal upper adj. bracket and ran alt. belt to double water pump pulley cant remember lower pulley but once the p/s belt tension is set the alt belt can be adjusted. GM did it on Caddys in the 80's for accessories. the car has been on the road 25 years without a hiccup.
