Before I break something else

I am attempting to change the thermostat in my '72 350. The bolt head on the driver's side of the gooseneck snapped off. I got the passanger side off and removed the alternator bracket. My question is this....."is the gooseneck on the driver's side threaded all the way through the fitting or does the bolt just slide into the gooseneck and then thread into the intake manifold"? (are the threads only in the intake manifold) Or restated... "since I have the passanger side free, should I be able to pry the gooseneck up off the manifold and then use a vice-grip to thread the rest of the bolt out of the intake manifold"? As it sits now, the goosneck appears to be free of the intake on the passanger side but won't budge on the driver's side.
I have the sinking feeling that you guys are going to tell me to "easy-out" the bolt on the driver's side :-(
Thanks for any advice

The water neck is not threded, the threads are down
in the intake. As long as the one bolt is snapped
off and you have the other one out you should
be able to work the thermastat housing up and
then you should be able to remove the broken bolt
with a pair of vise grips. I would try to work it
free by wiggling it back and forth. Be liberal
with the penatrating fluid also.
Good Luck and have a good weekend.
