I'm contemplating a switch from my TH350 to a 2004r. I see that monster transmission sells a conversion package that is very comprehensive. It has a transmission cooler which is separate from the radiator where my cooling hoses currently go. My car was originally an AC car and I want to add that in the future so wondering if they would interfere with each other.

Eric we need more info

1. Efans with Shroud or Mechanical Fan with Shroud ?
2. Do you drive your car in Freezing weather ?
3. How many Rows of Tubes in the Rad ?
4. What year of Chevelle ?

Should be both if you are adding an external cooler. You want the radiator to bring the fluid up to temp in cold weather and the external cooler to help cool in warm weather.

Wonder how much heat a radiator adds? My 1/2 ton runs about 70-80 deg. above outside temp. so in the winter when it's -20 it runs 50-60 deg. on the highway.

OK, so now I know I need to educate myself a bit. I never knew it could be both. My car is a 1966 with the stock 327 engine. I do not drive in cold weather. The radiator is a 4 row with a shroud and a flex fan. The car has no issues with cooling right now. I chose the 200-4R over the 700-R4 because it fits right in with little modifications.

Yup, you can have your cake and eat it too. >:)

What you want to do is plumb it so that the output from the trans goes into the radiator input, then from the output of the radiator to the input of the external cooler, and then from the output of the external cooler back to the input/return of the trans.

This way, you get a little heating/cooling from the radiator, and then final cooling from the external cooler.

On a 200-4R the input/output is reversed. So, the output to the cooler on a 200-4R is the upper line and the input/return is the lower line.
