When I'm looking for used parts I usually check this site first. Recently I started using ebay also and purchased a jack and some rally center caps
for my 69 chevelle. Here is my limited ebay experience;
One guy told me that he had to wait for my U.S Postal money order to pass the bank. I wasn't aware money orders could bounce.
While bidding on some items I notices "private bidder" or some such identification. Why would someone want to protect their privacy when bidding? Most of us use an arbitary user name anyway. It's like it's none of your business who is out bidding you.
I read a thread here that used a word "shrill" (I think) which I took to mean suspecious bidding from some of the sellers friends. I kinda felt some of the out bidding I experienced seemed strange after learning that the same person won several bids for the same items.
One thing I can't seem to get a good answer on is who gets the insurance proceeds if your item is lost in shipment. I recall a thread here that indicated the seller kept the proceeds rather than sending them to the buyer who never received the goods. This sounds like you have to rely on the buyers integrity, which I feel in most cases would not be a problem.
The one thing I did see that gave me some comfort level is the rating system of buyers and sellers.
Anyone have similar feelings or experiences and do you have any pointers to avoid problerms using ebay.
Thanks for your replies,
JohnH
