Already looking for more cam

The original plan was for the current 505 to be a cruiser that would see the strip from time to time, but the less than stellar mileage and the other el camino receiving a new 383 changed that, we are looking to make a few changes over the next winter in hopes of some lower ETs, current cam is a dinky hydraulic flat, but now we are looking for either a solid flat or if the funds allow it a solid roller. Car currently has 3.42:1 gears, with either a 4.10 or 4.56 unit going in possibly next spring, Th-400 transmission with a variable pitch converter stalling at roughly 2800-3000 RPM, the trans may also be replaced in a few years so we can tolerate being a tad low on stall speed for a while. If possible we would like to be able to run power brakes, don't mind if they're a little stiff at lower speeds as we live in a small town with little traffic, but keep in mind we live at 4600 ft.
Engine has 11:1 compression and cylinder heads specs are as follows

INT EXH
.050 41.1 36.6
.100 76.2 66.8
.150 116.8 108.5
.200 156.1 130.1
.250 198.1 151.7
.300 230.4 173.0
.350 245.8 191.4
.400 274.3 204.1
.450 287.8 217.9
.500 295.6 227.1
.550 298.9 240.6
.600 300.1 249.1
.650 301.8 257.0
.700 303.6 263.4

Looking for peak power to be roughley around 5900 rpm
hoping for about 550-575 horses, of course more are welcome:D
also would like to keep idle under 1000 rpm if possible
UDHarold i hope you can chime in

Jason, I think you're not getting many responses because you never asked a question anywhere in your first post. What cam do you have now? Are the plans still for mostly street, or are you thinking more strip than street now? What heads are you running?

With 11 to 1 compression and 505 ci, you can go pretty big on the cam. Post some cams you're looking at and ask what the guys here think of them for your combo.

Ask VORTECPRO's opinion. I think he builds a 505, find out what cam he uses for that. Of course they work their magic on the heads, but whatever cam they use would probably make good power in yours also.

505, what it that 4.375 bore x 4.25 stroke? Not sure the effect of altitude on duration or LSA, I know it effects compression, but even at sea level I figure you would want about a 250 intake lobe. Looks like your heads stall at .600" lift on the intake side, but still continue to flow on the exhaust side. I think I would be looking into a solid flat with about .600 lift (based on a 1.7 rocker) and maybe set it up with 1.8 rockers.

oops well i just noticed that, umm lets see if i can remember the specs of the first cam off the top of my head, about .518 for lift duration seemed to be 275 advertised and about 218 @.050, i know its tiny for an 11:1 engine, but it runs decent around at our altitude, since the closest strip is over 100 miles away we still want it to have some street manners but are looking for more at the track, most cruises with it wont really be any more than 100 miles (that would even be pushing it) as we have the other el camino that gets much better mileage, as far as cams im looking at perhaps something in the 235-245@.050 range with about .550-575 for lift. Would like to keep the power brakes, but don't mind if they're a little hard. If i remember correctly VORTECPRO is running something similar to the Isky 280 Mega Cam (correct me if I'm wrong) What would you guys reccomend?

Jason,
I would be more then happy to work with you on your project but would need some additional info on the build and your goals for the engine. Drop me call and lets see what we can come up with.
