I've got a Gateway GT5428 multimedia PC I'm getting ready to configure for a home theater PC. The current power supply is a weak 300 watt that Gateway puts in their machine. I want to upgrade onboard video to a PCI Express X16 card(any suggetions?). With the increased demand the video card will place on the machine I'm going to upgrade the power supply to a 650 watt unit. The motherboard(intel(coryville) 945G) has a 24 pin atx power supply connector on the motherboard. The 300 watt original power supply occupies 20 of the 24 pins. It was like pulling teeth to find out what the additional unused pins were for. I think I brow beat Gateway enough that they said it was for additional cpu power. My question is, would it hurt to supply power to the currently empty four pins with my new 650 watt power supply as it has the plugs to accomplish this or would I risk burning up the board or processor? I've asked Gateway and they want me to pay 59.99 to get an answer. SOOOO if any of you gurus know the answer I'd really appreciate your input. TIA Pete
