I recently obtained a 1967 Chevelle Malibu wagon and have an issue with the rear window. How do access the motor and wiring in the tailgate when the window is stuck in the open position. There is power getting to the motor, but the window will not close.
With out manual backup how does one get the window up so you can access the the motor etc.?

There is an inside panel that unscrews, with an ungodly number of screws. From there, the regulator fasteners should be accessible and then possibly some jostling to move things to a place where you can disconnect the glass. I don't have a power tailgate, though, so I'm sure it's more complicated than I've stated.

I had taken the panel off but I didn't see how I could access anything as the window glass is in the open position. I'll have to take another look. Thx.

There should be 2 or 3 bolts that connect the glass to the regulator behind the two sheet metal covers. The panel is decorative and the two metal covers close off the opening. 65Rod
