i bought a set of Accel mechanical advance weight kit for my stock points distributor and it came with a chart on the reverse side i can't make heads or tails of it!??anyone else buy this kit or decipher the graph??
it's basically a graph chart,on the left side it shows "DEGREES MECHANICAL ADVANCE"(DIST)and starts 0-2-4-6-8-10-12-14 bottom to top on the chart. The bottom of the chart going across starts at 0-2-4-6-8-10-12-14-16-18-20 is this initial timing?no description on the charts bottom numbers.I've got an original points distributor but converted to Crane's Xr-i points conversion so i don't know if dwell is factored in this chart? are the bottom numbers divided in half of 24 degree crankshaft rotation??????????all the spring choices top out at 12 degrees mechanical advance add for instance 16 base timing(assuming thats what the bottom numbers are) thats only 28 degrees ?...wheres the other 10 coming from the engine needs (38 degrees total)...

i think i might have figured it out...degrees in mech advance numbers are divided in half on the left side of the chart (12 is actually 24) because distributor rotates 1/2 the speed of the crank 12x2=24..then the bottom numbers would be initial timing..i think it's starting to make sense why the hell didn't they just put those numbers on there in the first place!
