LOL. I use my compressor regularly to clean computers out. Nothing better for the job. If your computer sits on carpet, or you have pets you will have lint inside. If you smoke around the system the stuff is almost glued in place.

 

I usually take a vacuum to it first then air it out.

 

Absolutely. You don't want to blow dust into a some place it shouldn't be. I take my Shop Vac to mine once a month or so and then hit it with some canned air for the really tight spots.

 

I just cleaned mine on Saturday, the computer was so loud, I knew it was time.
The heat sink had a screen of lint on the intake and another screen of lint on the exhaust side of it. There a layer of dust on both exhaust fans and a layer on the intake fan.

 

You'd be amazed at how many people don't know or do this. I work on computers all the time where people complain that it's locking up, rebooting, making a funny smell... etc, and all it needs is to be cleaned out. I did one a few months ago that 2 out of the 3 case fans were seized from junk, and I had to replace the power supply since it's fan was seized as well. Blech.

 

Nicotine and cat hair really mess up a pc too. The nicotine acts as glue. What a mess!
