Does anyone have a preference for seat covers and other material for a 1970 SS with buckets? In other words, is someone's product out there superior in terms of quality and ease of installation? My LS6 Coupe driver's seat has a rip, so I need to replace the driver and passenger seat upholstery. The interior is dark green, not that this makes a difference.

Should I automatically do the stuffing foam and other inside work while the seat is apart? Or just the covers? Is it something that I could do myself, or should I have an upholstery shop do the work? What's the cost of the work?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the advice. Who carries the PUI? Ground UP? Year One? Ausleys?

This question has been asked before and to my knowledge, none of the after market seat covers for 70 buckets are correct. The "ribs" on the repo's are flat vs humped. I still have my original seats and have had them repaired several times since I don't like the repo's.

I looked at your web page and it looks like you have original seat covers. The rip in your drivers seat might be difficult to fix. Talk to shops about repairing them if possibe then dye them and they will look like new.

Bill, thanks for the explanation. I don't believe the seat can be repaired, it's split in many places.

It stinks because it was ripped by the original owner in 1975, and he replaced it with a GM NOS seat cover, which is now split. Passenger seat is original. I looked at those seats (in my LS6) and compared them to those in my '70 SS396 and you can see the difference. The SS396 seats may be repops.
