I found an 8.2 inch 10 bolt out of a full size van. It already has 4.11's and thought would be nice in my 8.2 because it was a good deal. I wanted to know if they would be an straight swap? Will the later model van differential fit my velle?

Thanks
Don

I have never seen a 8.2 in anything but a car. Are you sure this is a 8.2 and not a 8.5 10 bolt? The 8.5 parts will not fit in the 8.2, except for the axles.

I'm not sure. I do know that the rear is 61 inches long from backing plate to plate. It also has 5 bolt axles. I'm trying to get more info but the seller hasn't replied yet.

If I had a year it would be great. Anything else you guys might need?

Thanks for the help

I can't say if it will work or not. I haven't run accross a 8.2 in a van before so I don't know what differences there may be. I know that the 12 bolt used in the car is much different than the 12 bolt in the trucks, so there may be some differences in the 8.2 also. What year is the van?

I'm mnot sure what year the fan is. The seller finally got back to me and only answered 3 of 5 questions I had. I will keep everybody informed.

Thanks for the help

If you're talking about swapping the entire housing, the answer is no. The van, I believe, has a leaf spring suspension (if it's like a truck). You have coils. The cost to convert would be more than the cost of a Ford nine inch or aftermarket 12 bolt. If you want to swap just the guts, I'd make absolutely sure it is indeed an 8.2 ten bolt. Get him to send you picture of the rear of the housing and compare it to this.
