Have a basic question: Does a non-ss dash(sweep type speedo) have a much different wiring harnesses than an SS (pods) dash?

I would think so. Primarily, does the sweep type dash contain a multi bulb (about 7 consecutive bulbs) light strip, (which I assume was used to illuminate the sweep speedo), and the SS pod dash would have no such light strip?

I hope that makes sense.

Friend of mine looking at a potential project car purchase. Car described as an original ’71 SS big block car, however, no documentation to support that. The interior is pretty well gutted and the dash in various stages of disassembly. What I noticed is several ‘light strips’ with one long light strip that contains roughly 7 or 8 small bulbs. Everything is mostly disassembled so the light strips are somewhat hanging, etc.

To me, this is a red flag that the car contained a sweep style speedo, or non SS dash. I believe the SS dash could be ordered in non SS cars back in the day, but certainly not the other way around.
