Hey Guy's I have a couple of questions for you all about my new trans (700r4) Does anyone know what the best factory produced core 700r4 was? hat car did it come in?What is the best running gear to use with it??

Thanks

They got better after 87 or 88. Corvette version would have a better shift servo, but this can be added to any of them.

I like the 3:73 rear with mine, but a lot of guys will say that's a little too deep.

The 700r4 improved midway 89, but most reputable shops make the mods to make them better when rebuilding. I like the 3.31 gear in the 12 bolt or 3.36 in the 10 bolt with a 26.1 " tall tire.

Starting in 87, they had alot of upgrades, including the larger input shaft, 28 element input sprag, wider low/rev sprag, auxillary valvebody, and a 10 vane pump. They used this basic design up to 91, then they went electronic 4L60E in some cases, and in 94 were all 4L60E's. You can convert any of them to the later pump, input drum, & sprags. Just can't use the auxillary valvebody on the early ones. The main change with the valvebody was the extra accumulator at the rear of the case, which was designed to give the transmission a smoother "garage shift" as in when you put the transmission into gear, it had a much smoother engagement from park to drive.
