Hey guys,
While I still enjoy it very much, my financial situation is having me starting to consider selling my beauty. I know that now is NOT the time to sell. My question is, without documents, is it right to advertise my '70 as a true SS? When I bought it the guy sweared that it was a real one, but I knew then that without documents it is not proven. The car came with all the right ss gear, round gauges, clear lense park lights, boxed rear control arms, sway bars, no holes under rockers for malibu modlings, ect ect... It has a date correct LS-5 but not #s match. Was originaly an auto now has a M22. The car is in beautiful shape, no rust or patches, complete frame off resto, can't see anywhere that seems to have significant bondo. I will only sell it if I can get a decent chunk of my investment back, if the market will only give me 15 to 18k I'll keep it(paid 30k + 5k in changing it to what I wanted). These cars do sell for more up here in canada as they are far less common. For 25k it would go.
Sorry to go on for so long... my question is, is it right to advertise the car as a true SS? Or should I use the dreaded words "clone" or "tribute" which would definitely hurt the responses. I do believe it to be a real one... but who knows!
Thanks guys

that's a nice car i would not be afraid to ask 35k doc or no docs remember these cars are not a dime a dozon.
Yeah I think you may be right. I am gonna put it up for 35k and not take a dime less than 30k. I have looked around online a lot and it doesn't seem that 454 4 speed cars in the condition of mine are going for less than that.

Does it have the original front door panels in it? There should have been a build sheet glued to the back of one of the front door panels...
Oh yeah??? The door panels look to be in pretty good shape for originals, but I'll pull em off anyway and have a look just in case  thanks for the tip!

I am really worried that if I sell this car I will regret it later. I need the $ but I could probably manage to keep it, and though it will be a struggle, it may be worth it. I love that car and I think I'd be really upset to see someone drive off in it.
And, if I get really really lucky and find a build sheet on the back of one of those door panels (not too likely as it is a restored car) (and if the build sheet actually confirms ss) I'll call the car an investment and keep it until the market picks up at least.

You're in Canada, eh??? Was the car delivered to a dealer up there, or maybe built in Oshawa?? Or did you import it to Canada??

If it was built there, or delivered new there, you can find out what it is through George Zapora at the Canadian archives.
I already tried that, unfortunately the car was imported here sometime after it's original sale. I was all exited thinking I was going to maybe find something out. The car was built in Atlanta.
Thanks anyway.
