I apologize as this has probably been asked before, but I am looking at a 70, seller who seems very straightforward said the frame was rusted badly on the car. He found a 70 GTO frame that was in excellent condition, already sandblasted and boxed. Guy was building a race car and gave up on the project. So the seller put it under the 70. That should not be an issue? He put 3 coats of satin black epoxy primer a d all new body bushings before setting the body on. Thanks all

 A '70 GTO frame should be okay with perhaps some work. There are some subtle differences between the Chevelle frame and the other brands (including Pontiac). Be certain what year the frame is (look at the conVIN). My concern is that the '71 and especially the '72 Pontiac GTO frames (the 455 frames were weird) have some significant differences to them that make them a PITA to modify for use under a Chevelle (sure it can be done, but still, it's not a slam dunk).

I remember your other thread. What concerns me is the crack behind the window, the frame, the trunk repairs with the welds not cleaned up and what is under the paint. I think $29K is too much and you may save a lot of money, time and stress if you move on...save your money and buy something worthy of your time. Sorry...why would the frame need replacing and the body be fine? If he did the repairs why did he leave the repairs unfinished?

Pat,
Just curious, do you have the skills/equipment/ time to finish the bodywork and then paint the car? I know I don’t. Of course I’d probably give it a try.
