Ever since I have had my car(1988) the dash light fuse had a wire jumped to it from the fuse above. When I was cleaning up my wiring I removed said jumper and now no dash lights. There is no voltage at the fuse clips. Apparently the jumper was feeding voltage down to the dash light circuit. I want to fix this the right way. I opened up the fuse box and there is no voltage on the gray wire. It runs up into the dash harness. Since the lights work if voltage is applied to the gray wire I am guessing the problem is on the exterior half of the fusebox where power would be coming in. Is anybody familiar with the circuit that could help me out? TIA.

Also is there any harm by using the jumper method?
