Was the swept dash available on 70-72 manual cars? If so, how was the the PRND indicator deleted?
I have one, I'm not sure exactly what it is you want to know???
Our 70 is a Malibu with FACTORY 3sp on the column. Where the P R N D L would be in an auto tranny car, it's just blank black on our 70.
Is that what you want to know?

I was curious about exactly what you described. I've been toying with the idea of turning my swept dash Malibu into a manual and that's when it hit me: the only sweep dash manual cars I have ever seen were conversions and I had never seen how they handled the PRNDL indicator in the originals.

On a sweep dash, to remove the shelf with all the lighted places, simply use a VERY TINY screwdriver to CAREFULLY, repeat, CAREFULLY pry out the plug on each end (there may be one in the center), remove the screws, lift up on the front of the shelf and pull out. This also gives access to the light bulbs for turn signals, Temp, Oil, etc. TOOOOOOOOOOOOO EASY!
