Guys,

I know this is the Chevelle website and I own Chevelles. I recently got an opportunity to buy a 69 Nova SS. It is a 350 car that does not have the original motor. It is a true SS with a Muncie (M21 I assume) 4 sp. Tranny is original as is the 12 bolt posi. Power steering and power disc brakes. Body is pretty good needs drivers side front fender (rusty dog leg) and rear tail light panel (dented in). It is blue, black, black vinyl top with bucket seats. It runs and is driveable. What do you guys think this car is worth? I know it is the ugly step sister to the chevelle, but still kinda cool. Is it worth $2K - 3K?
Mileage on odometer 53K mileage on rebuilt 350 owner says around 1500, but not verified. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

You mean step sister as in slim and trim but with a 20 footer face as opposed to pretty and fat and would be the bomb if she lost 75 pounds, right ;) ?

Seriously, sounds like a good deal to me- but there are those that believe that without the original engine, the car is not quite what it was when new.

If you are so concerned about keeping "Chevelle questions on a Chevelle site, and Nova questions on a Nova site", head over to www.stevesnovasite.com. Not that this is a big deal....

FWIW, I frequent both, and have never seen anybody run off of either site because they don't own a specific model of Chevy. I'm not speaking for anybody here, just from my own experience. Post some pics if you can, especially over at Steves if you want honest assesments. Quite a few Yenko people post over there too, and they have seen some REAL buckets, which might help them give you a good overall opinion.

2k-3k sound real good if it is in good shape. i just sold my 1969 nova ss (clone) last year for $9500. and the only thing that i did to make like that was the dash and some SS badges..... but the car was a 2nd place show winner and the car was well known around town......

Why did you change the dash...??? Non-SS cars and SS cars have the same dash. I assume you added a tach or clock........with console gauges. All of that stuff was optional on the SS Nova........not standard. Many 3rd gen. SS Novas were made without tach/clock/console. I own one of them.

From '69 - '72 All Nova SS came with power front disk brakes standard. Also, with exception of the Yenko Deuce in '70, the 4-speed Muncie was exclusive to the Nova SS (o.k., the '68 non-SS L-79 327 used a Muncie as well). Fender louvers and fake intercoolers on the hood also came on all '69 Nova SS, as did the ribbed rear panel (all regardless of trim level). You could get a 4-barrel 350 on a non-SS in '69, but it was the regular fuel LM1. The LM1 cars also would use a 12-bolt rear if it came factory with a manual trans. On Novas the premium fuel L48 350 was exclusive to the SS.

It's interesting that you mention this....I didn't realize that LM1 Chevrolets, including Nova, Chevelle, and Camaro, came with a 12 bolt! Pretty Cool...Those things were a deal and a half..All muss and no fuss...
