Last fall a tool & die maker working on the Camaro project told me that the SS with the big engine was either on hold or cancelled. Haven't heard anything since other than that they are building Camaros now. The workers went back to work in early November after the major plant changeover. 427 Camaro would have a nice ring to it. They should do a COPO deal with it just like they did in 1969. With the economy the way it is, I suppose we should be glad that they are building the Camaro at all.

IMHO ,General Motors is missing the boat by NOT offering the LS7 version of the 2010 Camaro.(maybe the ZR1 corvette (638 H.P.motor)There is still enough money out there that people would buy if it were offered. Also give buyers the option to select different wheels, interior colors, external striping(s),brake systems, hood scoop designs, etc. If it is so important for GM to generate money to survive...THIS WOULD HELP! I would probally be in line.Back in 69'(Camaro) they did this and charged as upgrades accordingly.SO WHAT! Give the people what they want!!

Hey it's me...Give me some room!!!

You can order different wheels, interior colors, different stripe combinations, body kits, spoilers, illumination pkg., RS pkg., SS pkg., Hurst short throw shifter, different color paints, different engines. They are trying to make it so each order can be individualized.

I don't understand how someone ordering an LS7 in a Camaro would cost GM any more since the engine already is being manufactured and should be a "bolt-in". If it's optional, then they only have to make as many as are requested.

Rich,
I'll take one in the same color  The stock 6.2L will be just fine as long as its followed by the six speed.

Is it possible the LS-7 being dropped is an emissions issue?

obviously we are a car forum and we all want more muscle...

Problem with that is we are the only ones that want it and half of us wont buy it cause the price is going to be to high and the mpg will suck too...

Why do you think foreign cars are winning?

When I was in Egypt all the vehicles the we used were GM.

We had 2007,08, and 09's...

I drove a Malibu. The thing felt worse/cheaper then an Aries K...

We also had a 08 or 09 4 door chevy truck with a Vortec in it. We didnt have power door locks. How does one open the door without power door locks? The pull knob for the door lock was at the BACK of the back door. The driver couldnt reach it and the passenger had to practically climb into the back seat to reach it. If there were four people getting in you couldnt put your hand between the headrest/pillar and reach it either....so the front seat people had to climb in and then crawl to the back to get the door open. Retarded.

The knobs on the seats came off. Not even 1000 mi on the thing.

Carpet bunching up.

Latch broke off center console.

09 Van...Cigarette lighter popped never worked again.

Rear tire/jack cover was held on by velcro. After a month velcro didnt hold anymore.

Door seals leak.

After a month...

When you get in some of the newer cars it just seems like its cheap.
If they would make things last a bit I think the business would be in the other direction...

starting at 22k for a 304hp V6. 30K for the 426hp SS, both come with 6 speed auto's or manuals...independent rear suspension. SS's have 4 piston caliper brembo brakes and performance suspension....sounds like a good deal to me.

Here is some sweet videos. the first of the SS doing some burnouts, the second of the V6 getting on it on the street

that camaro probably won't see the light of day from the factory, i think there are already one or two done by companies, the monster vette is also cancelled, along with the rear wheel drive impala we were supposed to get, pointiac may be cut down to about 4 models, same with buick, saturn may be sold, they can't give hummer away.

here's a bigger problem, chevy dealers are closing by the gross. my friend as of tommorow is unemployed. the chevy dealer she has worked for, for 29 years (and has been in business for almost 50) is closing it's doors.

this stimulas plan will be nothing but golden parachutes for the people running chevy into the ground. the dealers, admin., mechanics, etc. will never see a penny of it. i know a lot of people think we just voted jesus into office, but whether your dem or rep, our countries habit of throwing blank checks at problems without any supervision of those funds, is what got us here in the first place.

the b.s. statement of paying people so much, to attract qualified people is just that b.s.
we've instilled a reward for failure attitude in our society. kill your wife, move to florida and play golf, run disney into the ground, give him 10 million on the way out the door.

as long as business goes in the direction of selling the most, instead of the best, well never get out of this spiral.

right now, i still think the $ is going in the wrong direction. giving it to the same people who caused this problem in the first place..... that old saying, insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different outcome.

you know? everybody is bangin on the union workers for this mess, and though it's part of the problem, who do you blame? a guy who gets what he asks for, or the people who are too weak to negotiate a decent contract? the same people who give themselves stocks as incentive to do a job they are already over payed to do. blame 30-40,000 people for doing a job, or those few who make more than that 40,000 combined and use the company as an atm to buy 30,000 dollar desks for thier office, or use the corparate jet as a personal taxi? blame the workers who get a turkey for christmas, or the managment who have week long, all expenses paid exursions to country club locations?

this country was built on the backs of the common worker, the same guy who gets screwed when the "management" can't do the job they were hired to do.

you know? i'm third generation teamster, but when i was promoted to management, i had no problem firing somebody who didn't do thier job. nobody was able to sit for six hours, nobody was given a pass because they were union. do your job, or use the exit....

Chevy needs to get rid of the option packages that narrrow everything down to 2 or 3 option packages. They need to make them individual options again. If I want power windows and no power locks I should be able to get it like that.

Bill,(1blackharley),that pretty much sums it up!"if you want to eat...get off your seat,If you just want to talk...then take a walk!!!This happy Gov. needs to do the right think(s) and eliminate the wasters and practices that put this country in the downward sprial.
