This is kind of a weird combo so I'm having difficulty figuring out what its worth. I'm buying it from my dad, he wants $6000 for it.
Details of the car.
Its a 70 malibu, 350 4bbl, 4spd muncie. All stock other than he painted some brackets and slapped some chrome on it. Runs down the freeway ok, needs a carb rebuilding and it would be better, can be finicky to start. Has 115000 miles on it.
He's owned it since 89, hasn't driven it much in the last ten years. He's terrible about maintenance.
Interior is in need of some love, front seat covers are shot, lots of fading, but complete.
Body is overall solid. I'm a body guy so I've looked it over well. Underside is solid as a rock. No rust on any seams. Its been repainted sometime before he bought it. Okay at best in my opinion. Paint still shines and looks ok from a distance. There's some bondo on the rockers and quarter panel on the one side. Dunno what was repaired but nothing is showing thru yet in the twenty three years he's owned it. Has a vinyl top. No trim missing other than the rocker chrome.
Overall its a solid car you can get in and drive, but it needs everything to be gone over. I don't think it would be a hard resto since its all there and pretty solid.
It also holds some sentimental value, since I remember growing up cruising around in it. Id live to pass it on to my kids some day.
I will be doing all work on this car myself too, minus engine machine work.
Let me know if you guys think its a fair price.
Thanks.
