I use a wire wheel on a die grinder to take all the sealer out. Then DA it with 80 grit to scuff it up a bit. Then I fill it with fine hair fiberglass Gel. Tends to hold up to the heat better than bondo. Block it down smooth and feather all the edges in with a DA and 220 grit, and then use a urethane hi build primer. Block it down with 400 grit and wala.

I'm thinking of a different route. I want to make a template to fit on the fire wall. Trimming around the rasied area of the brake booster. Then transfering it to a piece of sheet metal. Welding this to the fire wall. Then blending in at the toe panels, brake booster etc. I think this would take a lot less time and effort.

WELL! Then you haven't been following this site carefully?

You can go to the New Showroom, and find our pics of our '68-'72 Aluminum 2 Piece Firewall (Original Pattern). This firewall mounts to your original firewall with wafer screws and rubber spacers. The space created between the 2 firewalls can be used to route wires (Which are then hidden).

We can build them for any year if we have the template and the "True" measurement(s).

In the pics, you will notice the "Raised area at the Power Booster, as this solves the problems in that area (You must extend the pedal rod 1/2").

In fact, we just brought home a 2 piece firewall that has been beadblasted and powdercoated.

'BEAUTIFUL"

Want Pics Of It?????

That's pretty much what I had in mind.
