...or am I just being an antisocial grump? I get people walking up to me all the time at work, shoving their cell phones in my face so I can watch some dumb video, read a joke, see what someone on facebook is doing, watch a cat get stuck in something, whatever. Some of these people make me sit through about thirty things they discovered that day, only to find another thirty to show me tomorrow. They must spend all day looking for this crap. I try to be polite, but I am getting to the point that I just feel like smashing their phone when they do it. I just sat through about twenty minutes of it, I need a break. I swear these smart phones are going to be the demise of civilization. Rant over.

I don't have that problem either. Maybe a couple of times a month someone will want to share a video.

If it's become a problem it's up to you to stop it before you get frustrated. I can't imagine sitting through 20 minutes of videos I wasn't interested in. If you want to be polite tell them you are either busy or you only have time for one, maybe two. When you are willing to watch that many, you are inviting a return engagement.

Nope, I've trained everyone that I interact with daily both at home and work that I have no interest in phones. They don't bother me with them. I do have a basic cell phone that just makes calls and texts. I rarely use it. I put it in my toolbox when I get to work and take it out to go home. We have no rules against phone use, I just don't think it belongs at work.

I'm retired. Only person that would try that is my wife. It's especially delightful when she wakes me up as I'm dozing off in bed to show me something like that. I quit working right around the time the iPhone came out, so I missed out on that kind of thing at work. Besides I was a grump and people generally avoided me, unless they wanted something from me.

My wife and I were at a remote island in Fiji. Here we are in paradise but what do we see? Two couples sitting on the beach, all four people with their nose stuck in their individual "smart" phones.:clonk:
I don't that was what was intended when they needed to get away from it all.

Just from the wife and the videos she views on Facebook. Can get annoying, but then she has a similar response as mine when I talk to her about a forum thread/post. :surprise: I telecommute 100% of work days, so don't have any co-workers to deal with in person.

I'm getting tired of the cell phone deal though. Dragging it around all the time sucks. Constantly checking this or that. And bigger definitely isn't better in regards to cell phone size. Time for a downsize. Time for a flip phone again. Basic - receive call, place call. Printed map to find your way.

Never had a problem with that but then again cell phones (or other personal electronics) are not allowed where I work :)

I kind of like it that way....
Not allowed where i work, either..

And yet here i am posting while i wait for a part to get done..

I had a flip cell phone for years, Track phone said they are going by the way side. SOOOO The wife gets me My Aunt Droids phone I dont know how to answer it , I dont know how to shut the f#@$en thing off, Today I could not use it , WHY? It said " NO SERVICE ".
I was buying Car parts at Luttys, I asked the young girl what was wrong with my phone, She fixed it in a second or two.
The phone was on Airplane mode, Whatever the hell that is.
I just want to make PHONE CALLS ! To much STUFF on my Aunt Droids phone, OK I am done !

No I am probably part of the problem now. Love my Droid!

I am on my third smart phone. We have younger people at work to show me how to use it. I don't like my wifes iPhone, its just enough different to be a pita. I can bore people with Chevelle photos, grandkid photos, wife photos, etc. Its wonderful.

What is now a pain is people at work that don't have one and cant easily take photos and send them to the office when needed.

And the no text rule for the office cell just got changed now we have to txt a response to prove we have the phone.

Gotten use to them I guess.

Most people I work with know I don't have a phone and I'm not interested in theirs. Occasionally someone will want to show me something, and the conversation usuallygoes something like this:

Q: Hey Dan, check this out

A: No, I'm good.

Q: It's funny, you gotta see this

A: Bwahahahahahahaha, that's hilarious...( without even looking at the phone )

Q: Youre not gonna look, are you?

A: Nope

And we're done.

I love when you pass someone looking at their phone on the street or in a hallway, and they think you're[ going to watch where they're going
I always laugh when I see that too, are they going to get lost if they're not looking at it.

Cant seem to get away from them
This obsession people have with seeing themselves or others seeing them online the attention the like me like me....ugh narcissism breeding grounds.

stick me in a small town somewhere with a 20 ft gate around it im happy. One day

Finally found a use for my smart phone. Keep a pic of my carry license on it. Otherwise, it sucks as a phone, and no I dont show everyone my permit. :)
