I recently acquired a 69 Delco radio for my 69 SS. I also have an fm converter to hook up. I bet most of you haven't seen one of those in a while. I would like to explore all other possibilities before I cut a hole in my quarter panel. I seen a few posts in the archives about putting the antenna under the dash/carpet/package tray. Anybody tried any of these options? If so how did it work out? There was even one that suggested cutting a hole in the trans tunnel and running the antenna alongside the underneath. That would probably give good reception, but I'm not ready to do that.

I bought a cheap $8 antenna and laid it flat under my dash. I couldn't extend it all the way, but it works pretty well on FM stations. No AM though. Its because I believe you need the metal ground. I might try just a ground strap from the antenna base to the car chassis and see if that helps.

You could install a 70-72 windshield with the windshield antenna.
I have a 70-72 windshield and it's becoming more of a headache to get the antenna hooked up than it's worth. whoever put it in the car didn't bother to get the right plug and wire for the radio so now I'm trying to make up some kind of adapter.

I've got a "tape on" antenna from Radio Shack. Basically, it's a thin wire on a length of clear tape (Scotch tape). I've got it along the top of the windshield, and down the passenger side to the dash. It takes a regular radio plug. Less than ten bucks! Barely noticeable.
