I have a 1969 Chevelle with a 454. Restoration included a new evaporator case which does not have the drilled holes to attach the Vacuum Canister. No room on the firewall to mount it. The question is . . how much room is there between the inside of the case and the coil if I were to drill into the case to mount the canister? Thanks.

Here are some photos of a spare case I have. I put drill bits through the factory mounting position holes. The front hole has 5/8" clearance between the case and the evaporator coil. The back hole has 1 7/8" clearance.
