Just curious having a 489 built right now. Got my sanderson headers in the mail today. Was wondering what everyone was running exahust wise and if you could do it again would you change anything?

My car had headman long tube headers with 3 inch exahust and 3 chamber flowmasters.

well I would say it depends on how loud u want. I am running 3'' pumped at the door with a dynomax bullett but plan on changing to a 3.5 with the same setup. it loud but..... I run dynatech splitflows on my ls1 TA and they sound awesome but are a 100$ apiece. I havent been a big fan of slowmasters but some do sound good.

I'm running 2 1/2 pipes all the way out to the rear with an H-pipe and "Slowmaster" 40's. It sounds good to me, but I want to get some electric cutouts.

IM running a tourqe tech system---3 1/2 to the x pipe,3inch out the x pipe to the hooker areo chambers, with 3 inch stock location out tailpipes--the sound is not over loud--but by no means soft--gets real howl like in the upper rpms--but --I love it,sounds really great--and gave me some more seat of the pants grunt--it dont have the flowmaster tin can chamber sound--you dont get that with hooker areochamber mufflers--what would I change?--n.a.d.t. works great---------bob hetrick--67rat

Starting from scratch put an X pipe in it. I have 3" pipes, H pipe, and Dynomax Ultraflo welded ovals, its fairly quiet til you put your foot in it, get lots of compliments on how it sounds going down the track. 505Nova posted a video on here a couple weeks back, in the archives somewhere.

I've got Dynomax headers, 2.5 inch Flowmaster American Thunder pipes (H-pipe) all the way out the back, with Hooker Aerochamber mufflers.

I picked the Dynomax's because I thought it was a fair price and being made by Walker Exhaust that they'd be good quality and fit well. They are good quality, but the fit is not great both around the spark plugs and around the chassis. I had to clearnace them in a couple areas. My old $90 Cylone's fit better.

I love the American Thunder, great fit, great look. I think my rear tail pipes hang a little low, but I think this is because I don't understand how to mount the factory hangers and is fixable.

I used the Aerochambers because they were "comparable" to Flowmasters in size/shape but almost half the price -- and they claim better HP that the Flowmasters.
