I'm thinking of spending an extra $80 and getting these for my Pypes 2.5" system I just bought. Will these work OK? Or are the U=bolt type that came with the kit just as good in terms of sealing?

I agree when you use a u-bolt if you want to disassemble the pipes forget it. I've used band clamps many times and really like them.

Stainless band clamps came with my MagnaFlow kit and after using them there is no way I would use regular clamps again. Mine were a little different than the link posted but I have used that style also and both worked good.

I just put them on my '65'. They worked great. I like that I can remove them easily whenever I may need to. Mine came from Jegs and I had accidently ordered the wrong clamps. They took them back with no hassle and even paid for the return shipping. My exhaust was Flowmaster from headers to the back. Fit was really good.

I think it all depends on if it's actually worth it. Pypes has 2 grades of ss. 409 and 304. If it's the 304 I'd say is worth it. The 409 will look as good as 304 but it will rust which is normal and doesn't rust through. My pypes 304 ss pipe kit no mufflers was $700 from summit so nice clamps made sense. If I had gotten the cheaper 409 I'd get ss clamps but not the expensive band clamps they would be regular HD clamps. This is based on experience. I've got a MagnaFlow system on my truck and not a year later it looks like crapp. The pipes are 409 and loOK worse than aluma coated pipes with several years of use. The MagnaFlow muffler and tip are 304 and still shine up with wd40 and a rag.

I'm sold. The band clamps have been ordered. I like the idea that it will be easier to swap out mufflers if I decide I don't like the sound.

you have to torque the crap out of them with a impact gun to get them to hold the mufflers in place without twisting around... I've actually gone so far as to put a couple tack welds on the mufflers and pipes, then band clamp over. If a need to change the muffler comes up, just grind off my little tack welds, and change them out.
