One thing about this thread that has helped me is the idea that 1 7/8" headers are so effective on a BBC. I really want to try some smaller tube headers on my 69's 427,preferably an intermediate-style that will have good ground clearance.

I built a package very close to their 540hp engine. I used their heads and intake, but used a Crane 304 solid camshaft.238/248@.050,544/567 lift. I also went with TRW 2465 pistons which checked at about 10.4:1 compression. I used the Hooker 2" headers and Harland Sharp rollers in place of the Cranes. I'm running a Holley 800DP but after reading some of these post, I'm thinking about a 950. I don't have any dyno #s, but have been fairly pleased with this combo. Car is very heavy, but runs high 11s in good air.

Gene, NHRA changed the rollbar/et requirement to 11.49 this year! I think that IHRA has been the same for a while now.

No reason to hold back anymore!
