I thought I saw somewhere on this website where someone had brackets made and bolted to the front and rear of the car so they could tip the car on its side to work on the underside. I am getting ready to start sandblasting and would love to have something like that. If anybody has any info on how to make these and where to bolt them to I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

check out my web site, under the 72 page and you'll see what I think your talking about.

thats not it either. I hate to be a pain in the ass but what I am talking about looked like something I could build fairly easy. I only have this week to get them built and get the underside of the car done. It looked liked they bolted them to the car and then just stood the car on its side. If I can't find these does anybody have any other ways besides the rotissere that they have done this.

I did it to my 67. to big "L" brackets bolted to the bottom of the car. Frame was off, just the body. I built two "7" shaped brackets (not "L's")so that the car would go up straight and then lean over a little farther so it would sit there.
I put castors on the final resting legs so I could roll it around. Used the front frame mounts by the firewall and the rear frame mounts in front of the rear wheels. Took 5 guys to flip it on it's side. I used 2" x 2" x 1/4" tubing and someone who knows how to weld better then me.On the body mounts I had to make 4" extensions to reach to the body mounts with tabs on them to run a bolt through and into the body. These are required because the rocker panels hand down lower then your mounting points.
I have regular pictures of this but nothing scaned or I'd show ya. E-me if you can open up autocad drawings and I'll send ya a sketch.
Roger

that thing is very similar to what I used. Of those shown already That is pretty much what is out there unless someone rigged something else up at home. Either invent what you need or resign yourself to the tall jack stands and lying on your back routine.

Hey prof,
I know what I saw and that is what I was looking for. I know all my options but I thought whoever made these stands I was looking for might be able to help me out. I really don't need you to tell me to invent something or lay on my back and do it. If you can help me great thats all I'm looking for. If not your the professor you go invent something.

I'm an accounting and informatin technology professor, not an engineer.... what exactly do you want to do? frame on, or off? what do you want to connect to? could you use something connected to the hubs, the way the one I used worked or to the frame horns? or is your body off the frame? What do you have to work with? a ceiling hoist capable of lifting 3 thousand pounds? Or a buch of guys that can help you roll an empty shell? Is the drive train in or out of the car?

Sorry Prof. but I'm kinda stressed out right now. I know I wasnt real specific on what I was looking for I was hoping whoever had these bracket stands would know what I was talking about. I think Roger from Texas has what I am looking for. I really appreciate everybodys input on this. This website is the best thing I have come across in helping with the restoration of my chevelle. Thanks again

If you find a picture of them please post it, I'd love to see what you're talking about. Maybe I could make/use a set if they are easy and safe.

sorry I couldn't be more help.
