Ok...
A few of the boys got together today to race Commerce at the "Snap On Day at the Races".
It was the first chance I've gotten to run my car since replacing the old tranny (TH400) and convertor with new Coan products.
I had suspected for some time that the old tranny was not quite right.
Today confirmed all that.
Best run was the second of the day, as is typical of my car.
Seems to take one run to knock all the "street driven" cobwebs out of it.
All incrimentals are now new bests...
R/T .020
60' 1.419
330' 4.099
1/8 6.375
MPH 107.65
1000' 8.351
1/4 10.039
mph 132.68
Remember...this beast weighs 3760 lbs with me in the seat.
This run just happened to be against Joespanova who built my motor and has been a mentor on getting this Chevelle to hook.
This time...I beat the teacher!!
Joe's Nova:
R/T -.073
60' 1.430
330' 4.139
1/8 6.418
MPH 108.44
1000' 8.398
1/4 10.071
MPH 134.52
Special kudos to Marooned (Mike Norman) and his Pro Mod buddy, Dave Himes who set me up with their contacts at Coan to spec out a new tranny & 8" convertor for my car. Seems to be DEAD on!
Special thanks to my bro-in-law DanaB who, although broke a motor mount/radiator today, also set some new personal bests with his '69 Malibu complete with a fresh 12 bolt 3.73 gearing.
Yes, GA69...Dana broke a 100mph...actually 101+ mph with a 13.16  The 383 liked the gear change.
FYI...James also set a couple of new lows to date sorting out his new combo...an Edelbrock RPM headed, UDHarold cammed 468...ran 11.20's
Truthfully, I don't know what the DA was but the weather was crappy ...mostly cloudy, mid-high 80's, quite humid and actually sprinkled a few times during the day. Influence from Rita, I guess.
